A NEW WAY OF SEEING THE ORCHID

This research explores and develops a new way to design architecture which evolves from the landscape, by completely understanding and reflecting the natural context and biology of an area from concept to the completion of a building, and by looking at past methods of ecological thinking to explore the relationships between organisms and the environment.

Through the study of a rare sentient plant in the Yorkshire Dales, a drawing method is developed. Data is used as a lens to create new visualisation tools to look at the landscape with deeper thought. The legend includes, but is not limited to: colour, form, balance and geometry.
