SONOGRAPHIC SLIP CASTS

Sonographic Slip Casting was an Easter After School Club series with STORE projects, at Rochester Square. Students made slip-cast ceramic bird feeders and bird baths using field recordings gathered from the city’s soundscape and the Rochester Square garden. The workshop explores how sound can be translated as texture and shape using digital and analogue making methods. Some of the sounds captured included loud rain on the roof to bird song and sirens - to recording materials in the garden - pebbles, woven chairs, stomping in water, brushing leaves, and snapping twigs.
